The Polish National Team apparently said it was no big deal but then Gortat was held out of the next game against Israel and will get an MRI. He’s supposedly headed back to Poland for treatment.

Gortat’s agent is saying it’s really no big deal, but that doesn’t sound like any kind of no big deal.

Free agent point guard Jamaal Tinsley is looking like he could end up in Miami. His agent is supposedly scheduled to speak again with Miami Heat president Pat Riley next week, according to the Miami Herald.

But Riley tells the paper that he doesn’t have any formal talks scheduled with the guard’s agent. And it’s believed that Riley doesn’t want to sign pretty much anybody on for more than a one-year deal this off-season so that Miami will have plenty of dough when the free agent class of 2010 becomes available, which includes their own Dwyane Wade as well as such folks as LeBron James, Amare Stoudemire, and Chris Bosh.

The Herald posits that Riley may be done with free-agent signings for the summer and will go with what he’s got and then rip it all up next summer, especially now that the deal for Quinton Richardson has been done. If that’s the case, Tinsley could always focus his energy on getting onto the roster of the New York Knicks, which was considering Tinsley earlier this off-season.

Lee’s pal on the Magic, Dwight Howard, is apparently saying that his 6′5" buddy isn’t overjoyed so Howard is feeding him self-help catchphrases to help ease his pain: "I told him he needs to make the best out of the situation. Learn from it and just use whatever he thinks is negative as a positive for motivation," said Howard.

Poor guy will just have to suffer with the $1.2 million he’ll be making this season.

Knicks president Donnie Walsh has two negotiations already in session with different guards: 23-year-old Ramon Sessions and coming-out-of-retirement Jason Williams. The Sessions talks apparently aren’t going as smoothly as they reportedly were this past weekend. So the team is looking at Stackhouse and spoke with guard Jamaal Tinsley recently as well.

Sessions supposedly wants a deal for five years and $32 million and Walsh has been very focused on saving salary-cap space for next summer’s free-agent all-you-can-eat glut. The word on the street is that the Knicks really want Sessions and are desperately trying to trade somebody else in order to get some of that cap space back that they’d be losing if it signed Sessions.

The main rivals to Rambis for the spot has been former NBA guard Mark Jackson and current Houston Rockets assistant Elston Turner. But rumor has it that Rambis will be offered the gig very soon.

But will he take it? Perhaps. Especially since he’s had a couple of rejections already this year, going through interviews with the 76ers and the Kings before losing out on those jobs.

Free agent Lamar Odom plans to return to the champion Los Angeles Lakers with a four-year contract, according to a report on ESPN. Multiple sources also confirmed to Yahoo! Sports that the deal was close.

The contract reportedly would be worth as much as $33 million, including the Lakers’ option on the fourth year of the deal.

Odom, 29, averaged 11.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists for Los Angeles last season. He had also been considering rejoining the Miami Heat, for whom he played during the 2003-04 season before joining the Lakers.

Life gets trickier as well when you are a top draft pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves but is also under contract to another team back in Spain. (Go DKV Joventut!) Rubio seems to have worked out that situation by supposedly being close to getting a five-year deal offered to him from Regal FC Barcelona that’ll give him $1.4 million every year to throw around. Sorry, ‘Wolves fans.

But wait! There’s hope on the horizon. The deal reportedly has a clause that would let Rubio out of his deal in two years. Hello, NBA!

But that hasn’t gone so well. The two sides are apparently at a "stalemate," according to the Associated Press.

So the expectation is that the Bobcats will continue to try to find some deals on the trade market. Especially since all of its division rivals have gotten better this off-season. AT least they have on paper.

In his radio interview, he went out of his way to tell listeners how great he thinks South Beach is, how great he did in the playoffs, and how he can’t wait to find out where he’ll be playing this coming season.

Of course, if Miami can convince Lamar Odom to come to the Heat – and Dwyane Wade and team prez Pat Riley are apparently in Los Angeles this week doing everything they can on this front – the team likely won’t have the cash for Boozer, leaving him stuck in Salt Lake City.

Timberwolves general manger David Kahn just spent four days in Spain. Nice, right? Well, no, he spent the time trying to work out the Ricky Rubio mess. And now he’s got a coach to hire.

Mark Jackson has apparently been the favorite to replace Kevin McHale for some time, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. But word is that Kurt Rambis is really giving Jackson a run for his money. Kahn is supposedly interviewing both again this week and making a decision either later this week or early next.

Rambis would surely get the gig if he promises to wear protective goggles every night on the sidelines.
