Roy Oswalt could be heading back to Texas. The 34-year-old played his first nine and a half seasons with the Houston Astros before being dealt to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Now the Dallas Morning News has it that the Texas Rangers have asked Oswalt’s agent about what it would take to snag his client. The Rangers, of course, are also busy these days trying to finish up the contract negotiations with Japanese import Yu Darvish before that time window closes.

Oswalt’s agent, Bob Garber, wasn’t talking Thursday, the paper notes, but he was “attending the Rangers awards show at the Arlington Convention Center” since one of his other clients, outfielder Craig Gentry, was receiving the Rangers’ rookie-of-the-year award.

Oswalt, a three-time All-Star, went 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA and a couple of stints on the disabled list for the Phils last year.

It didn’t take much time to find a buyer.

Bloomberg reports that the team “likely will be sold to a group led by Joshua Harris, a director at Apollo Global Management LLC, in the next few business days,” according to two anonymous sources.

One source tells Bloomberg that the team will cost $280 million. For that, Harris is getting a team that finished 41-41 last year with Doug Collins at the helm.

Now the Courier Post reports that an Iguodala trade is not imminent.

Sixers president Rod Thorn has "been meeting with the prospective new owners of the team" and taking calls on Iguodala, the paper reports.

"We’ve had some what I would call meaningful conversations and some not so meaningful," Thorn said, the paper reports. "But as of right now, we don’t have anything that is imminent."

However, Thorn did say that "many teams" are interested in Iguodala so it’s still looking like the swingman could be headed elsewhere before the season gets underway (when the new CBA gets ironed out).

The source says the team doesn’t want anyone "under 6-8. We need a big," the paper reports.

The only thing holding back such a selection, the paper notes, is a deal happening before the draft, "such as Andre Iguodala being dealt and a good big man being acquired in exchange."

The Sixers ended up with a 41-41 record this past season and took on the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs, losing in five games.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

The paper reports that Iguodala, who will make $13.5 million next year, hasn’t told the team that he’d like to be traded, "but the team will be looking to trade him this summer."

The Inquirer notes that "some league folks have hinted that the Sixers and Memphis Grizzlies could discuss a swap of Iguodala for Memphis’ injured star Rudy Gay." Gay, who will make $13.6 million next season, is out with a shoulder injury as the Grizzlies go on stomping through the playoffs.

The Inquirer reminds readers that "another trade that was discussed last season involved trading Iguodala to the Los Angeles Clippers for big man Chris Kaman," who has only one season left on his contract that will pay him $12.2 million.

It appears that Andre Iguodala might not have any interest in such a thing. Multiple sources tell the Philadelphia Daily News that Iguodala didn’t bother to show up for his scheduled meeting with coach Doug Collins, team president Rod Thorn, and general manager Ed Stefanski. Somehow all of his teammates found time in their suddenly free schedules to do so.

"I just want to compete for titles," Iguodala said to reporters, a meeting that he did show up for, according to the Daily News. "We made a lot of strides this year. I think we’re heading in the right direction."

Still, he wouldn’t say he was hoping to be a Sixer forever: "I expect to be back in the NBA. It’s always been a dream of mine to play ball," he said, according to the paper. "This has been a great ride so far, not just with the Sixers, but playing basketball in general. So I’m really looking forward to getting some rest this summer, letting my body recuperate and get back to 100 percent."

"The officiating has been how officiating is," Stern said, according to the site. "We have this issue. We have humans that officiate our games and they don’t catch everything. But they’re the best at what they do."

However, Stern sees a time in the future when there is a replay official at NBA games, the site reports: "Eventually, you may have someone sitting at a desk rather than having a Talmudic discussion of three referees every time there’s a disputed play," Stern said, CBS reports. "We might have one person whose job it is to keep the headphones on and always watch. And you might let a coach throw the flag in the last two minutes. We’re striving for accuracy. … We have to find a way to speed the game up, and to get it right. That’s the most important thing."
