The Denver Nuggets are still hoping that Nene will end up back in the Mile High City, the Denver Post reports, and are waiting out the slimming market for him.

The 6-11 Brazilian center was about to get an offer from the Houston Rockets to be a power forward next to Pau Gasol, but then the three-way trade that would have brought Gasol to Houston was denied by the league, and the Rockets extended an offer sheet to Marc Gasol rather than Nene.

The New Jersey Nets are waiting to see what happens with Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard before making any move on Nene, the Post notes.

Both the Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers have either tried to sign other big men (DeAndre Jordan) or actually done so (David West) without making an offer to Nene, the Post reports.

“In short, it’s looking as though Nene is a backup plan or complementary piece for all his suitors except the Nuggets, who haven’t replaced him and remain interested in making him their starting power forward, where he would play beside young center Timofey Mozgov,” who came over to the Nuggets when Carmelo Anthony was dealt to the New York Knicks.

Before the lockout, the Nuggets offered Nene a four-year, $50 million contract, the Post notes.

At least five teams would like to sign power forward free agent David West, whose season ended in March with a torn ACL in his left knee.

According to CBSSports.com, four of those teams the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, and Atlanta Hawks — don’t have enough room under the salary cap to bring West onboard. The good news for them, though, is that the Hornets are willing to do a sign-and-trade deal with the 31-year-old two-time All-Star, who averaged 18.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game last season.

The other team that actually has room for West under the cap is the Indiana Pacers, CBS reports.

The Indianapolis Star reports that Pacers president Larry Bird is “scheduled to fly to Denver to meet with Nene on Tuesday.”

The Pacers will likely be around $21 million under the salary cap, the Star reports, but it remains unclear they “are willing to pay top dollar to sign him.”

The 6-11, 250-pounder averaged 14.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists last season for the Nuggets.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Celtics GM Danny Ainge is “aggressively” pursuing deals for Rondo and the Indiana Pacers “have emerged as an intriguing suitor” for him.

A preliminary framework for a deal has been discussed, Wojnarowski reports, but a third team needs to be involved in order to make it happen. Sources tell Wojnarowski that the “Celtics are likely trying to gather the necessary pieces to make a bid for Ainge’s ultimate target: New Orleans point guard Chris Paul.”

Rondo’s name has come up in discussions :across the past few trade deadlines and NBA drafts,” Wojnarowski reports, and the Boston front office has “long been divide(d)” over Rondo.

Now the 33-year-old wants to be back in the NBA and is willing to play some minor-league ball to get there. Yahoo! Sports’ Marc J. Spears reports that the 33-year-old Tinsley, who was selected in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Memphis Grizzlies out of Iowa State, is putting his name in for a very different draft: the D-League. “Tinsley has sent in the needed paperwork to enter Thursday’s NBA Development League draft,” Spears reports.

The Brooklyn native spent the large majority of his career playing for the Indiana Pacers.

The 7-1 California native tells ESPN that the two sides wanted to get something done before the lockout kicked in. “But it just didn’t happen,” Chandler told the site. “We were so far apart, we might as well not have even met.”

Chandler averaged 10.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.1 blocked shots per game this past season. In the playoffs, he averaged 8 points, 9.2 rebounds, and .9 blocks per game.

The site notes, however, that “China is a country of entrepreneurs now – and they want their NBA players.” The site has heard that Dwyane Wade was offered $2 million a month and Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki have both been offered contracts worth more than $1 million monthly. Nowitzki has been offered a $1.5 million per month deal, too, the site reports.

PBT points out that the pro teams in China tend to have high turnover for foreign players: “Some players don’t even last two weeks in the country after signing a contract, and it’s not unusual to see teams switch imports three times in a single season,” the site reports. “That begs the question, if a team were to release an active NBA player from his contract, how would that be different than releasing any other import?”

Mitchell is expected to be interviewed Friday and Brown next week, the paper reports.

Mitchell was actually one of the original players for the Timberwolves back in 1989. He stayed till 1992 and then returned there in 1995 after a stint with the Indiana Pacers. Mitchell went on to coach the Toronto Raptors from 2004-2008 and won the NBA Coach of the Year in 2007.

The team has previously interviewed Terry Porter, Mike Woodson, Bernie Bickerstaff, and Don Nelson face-to-face as well as Rick Adelman on the phone, the paper reports.

“I’m sure the lockout will end one day,” Landry told JCOnline.com. “I just don’t know when. A lot of guys are trying to play overseas and make a little extra cash while this lockout is going on, but unfortunately in my case, I’m a free agent, so the smart thing for me is not looking into going overseas.”

The former Purdue student went on to say that he was comfortable playing for the Hornets and though he was productive for them but would prefer to go play for the Indiana Pacers or Milwaukee Bucks. “I would play in Indiana for the Pacers, and I’m from Milwaukee, so I wouldn’t mind going back there,” he said. “You just never know where I will end up.”

Landry averaged 11.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season for the Hornets and Sacramento Kings.

Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Indiana Pacers and New Jersey Nets "are two teams with significant salary-cap space and a strong interest in signing West, league sources said."

One thing the Nets have going for them, Wojnarowski points out, is that West grew up in Jersey "and has always been fond of the metropolitan New York area." 

West could still return to the Hornets, "who offered him a three-year, $26 million-plus extension this season, Wojnarowski notes.

"David wants to win, whether it’s in New Orleans or someplace else," his agent, Lance Young told Wojnarowski Monday morning. "He wants a fair shot to look and see what else is out there. He loved the Hornets, but it’s about finding the perfect place to win."
