He’ll be the youngest bench coach in the NBA.

"I am very fortunate,” Griffin told the Journal Times. "I was just a player two years ago and now I’m a coach. It’s very competitive to make an NBA team as a player, but it’s even more competitive to become an NBA coach. There are only a few of them (usually five) on each team.

Rose tells the Chicago Tribune that he’s been working extra on nailing those long-range shots in order to open up his game and the floor for his Bulls teammates. His work paid off for Team USA the other day when he hit three-of-four shots from three-point range.

While the FIBA three-point line is three feet closer to the basket than the NBA’s, Rose told the paper that he’s spending extra time after Team USA practices to shoot from the NBA distance.

"It’s something I’ve been working on over the summer with my trainer Rob (McClanaghan), and over here I stay after practice and take lots of reps shooting NBA threes," Rose told the paper. "Now when I’m open or need to shoot it, I will because I am confident it’ll go in."

That should help make some room for Carlos Boozer to do his thing around the basket.

"Indications are that the Hawks plan to make an aggressive push to sign … Horford to an extension but that process hasn’t started," the paper reports.

Horford for one hasn’t heard anything about it. "I think anything will start coming once training camp gets going," he told the paper. "I am just kind of leaving to that to the owners and my representation and just seeing what happens. I am going to keep working hard and keep doing what I’ve been doing."

But the Knicks aren’t having it for some reason, according to the New York Daily News. The paper is reporting that team president Donnie Walsh said no recently to a three-team deal that would have brought Fernandez to the Knicks.

A team source tells the paper that the deal would have had Anthony Randolph moving to the Indiana Pacers and a first-round pick from the Pacers to the Trail Blazers.

His agent was set to meet with Hawks general manager Rick Sund this week to discuss the topic. Now the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that "at least three teams inquired about his availability" before his desire for an extension from the Hawks became public.

The paper reports "there’s some sentiment" in the Hawks front office "to just deny Jamal the extension and have him report to camp."

Crawford averaged 18 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game for the Hawks last year.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that there aren’t any trades currently planned but if the team can’t get itself above .500 at mid-season, there could be a lot of player movement.

The Dealer claims that if that’s the case, the team will put Mo Williams, Antawn Jamison, Anthony Parker, and Jamario Moon up on the trading block and is betting 60/40 right now that Jamison will be gone before the deadline passes.
