He took the year off last year, saying he was retired just after he signed a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clips released the 33-year-old earlier this summer and he’s supposedly worked out for a few teams, including the New York Knicks. Orlando, though, is supposedly his first choice since his wife and kids are living there. One small problem is that the Magic is pretty stocked at point guard with Jameer Nelson and backup Anthony Johnson.

The Polish National Team apparently said it was no big deal but then Gortat was held out of the next game against Israel and will get an MRI. He’s supposedly headed back to Poland for treatment.

Gortat’s agent is saying it’s really no big deal, but that doesn’t sound like any kind of no big deal.

It’s looking like the Knicks and Nets shouldn’t save their pennies for Wade. He’s apparently saying tat he can’t imagine himself playing for either one of those teams, according to the New York Post. "I’m not thinking about the Knicks or the Nets. Only when we play them," he said.

In fact, according to the New York Times, Wade wants to remain in Miami: "I want to be in Miami, and I hope everything works out that way," Wade told the paper. "I want to be one of those players that stays with one franchise for his entire career."

Well, Arenas is apparently back, better than ever, and ready to pull the Wizards out of contention for being the worst in the league. New Wizards coach Flip Saunders checked in on Arenas in Chicago last week and is saying the 27-year-old, eight-year pro is looking pretty sweet in the weight room and on the court. And, according to Saunders, Arenas is feeling like he’s got something to prove after all that time spent at the doctor rather than on the court.

You can be sure Wizards fans are hoping it’s all true.

Apparently not. Celtics restricted free agent power forward Glen Davis isn’t seeing much action on the contractual front and it’s getting him annoyed.

As teams across the league (including his own with the signing of Shelden Williams!) sign other power forwards, Davis is starting to wonder what is up with his lack of signing.

Maybe it’s his own demands that are holding things up. Davis supposedly did not like the last offer made by the Celtics earlier this week, according to the Boston Herald. He sent out a few frustrated tweets: "Anybody know what’s going on with the Celtics? Cause I don’t!" and "Well I don’t know where I’m going to be!!! Where (you) guys think I’m going to be!!! Who needs a pf?"

Free agent Lamar Odom plans to return to the champion Los Angeles Lakers with a four-year contract, according to a report on ESPN. Multiple sources also confirmed to Yahoo! Sports that the deal was close.

The contract reportedly would be worth as much as $33 million, including the Lakers’ option on the fourth year of the deal.

Odom, 29, averaged 11.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists for Los Angeles last season. He had also been considering rejoining the Miami Heat, for whom he played during the 2003-04 season before joining the Lakers.

Life gets trickier as well when you are a top draft pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves but is also under contract to another team back in Spain. (Go DKV Joventut!) Rubio seems to have worked out that situation by supposedly being close to getting a five-year deal offered to him from Regal FC Barcelona that’ll give him $1.4 million every year to throw around. Sorry, ‘Wolves fans.

But wait! There’s hope on the horizon. The deal reportedly has a clause that would let Rubio out of his deal in two years. Hello, NBA!

But that hasn’t gone so well. The two sides are apparently at a "stalemate," according to the Associated Press.

So the expectation is that the Bobcats will continue to try to find some deals on the trade market. Especially since all of its division rivals have gotten better this off-season. AT least they have on paper.

Dunleavy is already able to cut and squat and move his leg in all sorts of ways that most normal people would define as perfectly healthy, according to the Indianapolis Star. But he’s not a normal person. So he’ll keep working out and the Pacers will keep hoping the doctors will agree with Dunleavy’s "gut feeling" that he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

Timberwolves general manger David Kahn just spent four days in Spain. Nice, right? Well, no, he spent the time trying to work out the Ricky Rubio mess. And now he’s got a coach to hire.

Mark Jackson has apparently been the favorite to replace Kevin McHale for some time, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. But word is that Kurt Rambis is really giving Jackson a run for his money. Kahn is supposedly interviewing both again this week and making a decision either later this week or early next.

Rambis would surely get the gig if he promises to wear protective goggles every night on the sidelines.
