The Houston Rockets were in the middle of the pack in the Western Conference last year and the New Jersey Nets were all the way at the bottom of the Eastern Conference but that isn't stopping Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony (notes) from putting them on his list of teams he'd consider a trade to, according to Sports Illustrated. Anthony has already been linked to the New York Knicks and possibly the Orlando Magic . The 26-year-old Anthony will be a free agent next summer and has a three-year extension offer on the table from the Nuggets that is worth $65 million
Rookie Xavier Henry (notes) , picked twelfth overall in this summer's draft, is still unsigned by the Memphis Grizzlies and "several trade offers" have come from other teams for him, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley doesn't want to deal Henry, though. "I'm not looking to trade him just to trade him," Heisley told the paper.
Guard Rudy Fernandez (notes) may have two more years left on his contract with the Portland Trail Blazers but the Oregonian reports that he doesn't plan on showing up for any practice or game with the team. In fact, the paper reports, Fernandez is happy to just sit out for the next two years until he can return to Spain and play where he really wants to play. The 25-year-old Fernandez had already requested to be traded from the team but that wasn't going anywhere so he had his agent tell the team he would be fine if they suspended him and he had to forfeit the two years left on his contract, the paper reports.
